Friday was another beautiful day, but it was supposed to have turned cold Friday night. If you want to see beautiful Christmas decorations, see the Johnny Campbell house at 77 E. Main St., Inman, S. C. Thousands of people come from all over this section to see the display. The lights go on at dark each night and remain on "until about 20 minutes goes by when there's only one car." C. 28782 Douglas-Weide Mrs. Benjamin Douglas of Tryon has announced the engagment of Ellen Palmer Douglas to Robert Louis Weide, son of Mr and Mrs. Donald E. Weide of Topeka, Kansas. Miss Douglas is the daughter of the late Benjamin Douglas and Mrs. Douglas Ms. Douglas, a graduate student and teaching assistant in Linguists at the University of Pittsburgh, received a B A. Degree from .Randolph Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Va. and did graduate work on a Rotary Scholarship in Bochum University in Germany. Her paternal grandparents are Stratford B Douglas and the late Mrs. Ellen Earle Riggs Douglas, formerly of Albany, N. Y. Her maternal grandparents were the late Dr. and Mrs. Marion C. Palmer of Tryon. Mr. Weide, a Ph.D. candidate in Linguistics at the University of Pittsburgh is a graduate of the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Kansas. MONDAY, DEC. 22,1980 Named To Phi Beta Kappa Miss Rita Panoscha Seventy-eight students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were initiated into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s highest scholastic honorary society, in ceremonies in Memorial Hall Thursday, Dec. 4th. Admission standard to Phi Beta Kappa is a 3.7 grade point average and 75 credit hours. Seniors must have a 3.6 GPA and 105 credit hours. (4.0 is an A average). One of those initiated was Miss Rita Panoscha, junior chemistry major, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guenter Panoscha of Tryon A graduate of Tryon High School, Rita is a member of the University Marching Band and will attend the Bluebonnet Bowl at Houston, Texas on Dec. 31st. 120 Pages Today Price 10c Per Cop; Landrum Store Is Robbed The Fast Fare convenience store located next to the Landrum Medical Center in Landrum was held up Thursday night at 11 o'clock. Two black men walked into the store and demanded the money from Teresa King who was on duty at that time. Landrum Police state that the men took about $100 in cash and fled the store on foot. It is believed that they had a car waiting nearby. Bad $20s It has been reported that some counterfeit $20 bills have been circulated in this area. Merchants are advised to be on the lookout for them.
